NERVE BLOCKS FOR ANAESTHESIA AND ANALGESIA OF THE LOWER LIMB - A PRACTICAL GUIDE: Femoral, Lumbar plexus, Sciatic
The purpose of this guide is to provide a detailed, step by step description of how to safely and reliably perform nerve blocks for surgery and pain relief on the lower limb, for the non-specialist anaesthetic practitioner. It covers femoral nerve blockade, lumbar plexus blockade using the inguinal paravascular approach and sciatic nerve blockade. No description is given of more distal blocks, ...
متن کامل[Anterior '3-in-1' blockade: partial, total or overdimensioned block? Correlation between anatomy, clinic and radio images.].
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Classic anterior 3-in-1 blockade has been questioned as to the anesthetic involvement of its three participant nerves: femoral, lateral cutaneous of thigh and obturator. This study aimed at evaluating the outcome of anterior 3-in-1 blockade through: single injection (G1), short catheters (G2) and long catheters (G3). 3-in-1 blockades identified as total or overdimensio...

متن کاملInappropriate conclusion from meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
To the Editor: Paul et al. should be congratulated for examining the body of evidence on the comparison of patient-controlled analgesia opioid or epidural analgesia with femoral nerve blockade for analgesia after a common operation, total knee arthroplasty. A meta-analysis, by pooling and analyzing statistically the results from several combinable studies, can increase the statistical power to ...
متن کاملSaphenous Nerve in the Distal Adductor Canal: Anatomic Position of the Nerve in Relation to the Superficial Femoral Artery
Wake Forest School of Medicine 73 Background: For ultrasound-guided saphenous nerve blockade within the adductor canal, the location of the saphenous nerve relative to the superficial femoral artery may be important for continuous blockade or low-volume, diagnostic block. Currently, there are inconsistencies in the literature and anatomy textbooks as to the anatomic relationship of these two st...
